We begin with the knowledge of the product objective, consumers who will be the target, flavour profile, price strategy and brand positioning. The feasibility is viewed in terms of compatibility of the ingredients, baking or extrusion and stability of shelf life and feasibility of the commercial manufacturing.

Formulation strategy is what defines the type of grain, sweetener system, binding components, flavour orientation and nutritional orientation. The balance of ingredients and the diversity of textures are maximised in the case of the muesli recipe development, and the cereal formulation is focused on the crunch, shape-stability, texture and nutrition value.
